  3. To complete the USAV Ref Courses: ALL MUST DO

    • Each team needs to have multiple people who know how to do every ref assignment. Your coach may assign players to ref certification requirements.

    • EVERY TEAM NEEDS A COACH WHO KNOWS HOW TO DO EVERYTHING.

    • Every player must complete FL23_013 – Jr. Line Judge

    • If you are going to keep the SCORE BOOK, you must complete FL 23_014 Jr. Qualified Scorer Training

Reffing Information

  • For those of you who are new to club coaching or as a reminder for all, your team will be the “work team” 1-2 times per day of play at a tournament and you will be required to have 2 line judges, 1 scorekeeper (the book), 1 scoreboard (the flip score board), 1 libero tracker, 1 down ref, and a coach or rostered member must do a job at the table or be the down ref (which is near the table and able to monitor the table).

    • 5 players and 1 coach are needed to be working at each set.

  • USAV sanctioned events and their AAU Chaperone (or coach) for AAU sanctioned events to help at the table. If you have a coach and an assistant at the tournament, share the ref duties equally. You can enlist the help of a rostered adult (which means they have their USAV Chaperone (or coach) membership for USAV sanctioned events and their AAU Chaperone (or coach) for AAU sanctioned events to help at the table.

  • Reminder, no one can do a job other than scoreboard unless they are a coach or the player and/or chaperone fully understands how to do this job – the videos below will give the full instructions.

  • There isn’t a course to pass for AAU ref courses so just be sure the team members and/or chaperone watch the videos.

  • We have an important job as the work team and this reflects on the club if you do not do your job well, so please take this seriously.
