Differences Between Practice Plans

Beginner 

  • Focus: Basic skills and understanding the game

  • Drills: Passing, underhand serving, footwork, basic setting

  • Structure: Slower pace, more explanation, high rep/low complexity drills

  • Goal: Build comfort with fundamentals and rules

Intermediate

  • Focus: Skill refinement, introducing team systems

  • Drills: Serve-receive rotations, overhead serving, setting tempo, controlled scrimmage

  • Structure: Moderate pace, some game-like drills, more positional breakdown

  • Goal: Improve consistency, introduce strategic play

Advanced 

  • Focus: Speed, precision, and competitive systems

  • Drills: Quick tempo setting, multi-ball drills, in-system/out-of-system transitions, advanced serve-receive

  • Structure: Fast-paced, minimal explanation, high-intensity reps

  • Goal: Polish team strategy, prepare for game-day performance

Practice Plans

  • Incorporate both technical and game-like drills to balance skill development and real-time application.

  • Maximize reps—avoid long lines or downtime.
