Diego Villafane

Diego brings 11 years of playing experience and is entering his 2nd season coaching at WPVC. Currently a professional setter, he emphasizes incorporating positive reinforcement and energy while fostering a competitive environment. Diego has had a decorated playing career, highlighted by his time in Division 1 EIVA from 2018 to 2023, where he was a 2-time First Team EIVA selection, earned AVCA Player of the Week honors, and set the single-season assist record. In 2023, he played professionally for Xari-ByulByul Shusha in Azerbaijan, competing in the CEV Challenge Cup and advancing to the second round. Most recently, in 2024, he helped Caribes de San Sebastián capture the championship in Puerto Rico’s LVSM league. Diego brings this high-level experience to coaching, helping athletes develop their skills, confidence, and love for the game while creating a team culture that balances encouragement with elite-level performance.
